Important Announcements

Geography Bee - Congratulations to Travis Shell for qualifying for the Oklahoma State Geography Bee in April!  Travis will complete against 99 of the best geography students in the state!  Great job, Travis!

District Band Contest - BIG congratulations go out to our SMS band kids that played at the District level solos and ensemble contest at Jenks Saturday morning.  Many received ratings of excellent and superior:

David Hall, excellent rating for solo;
Austin Jester & Chris Clarkson, excellent for duet;
Michelle Sheppard, superior for solo;
Emily Beck, superior for solo;
Clark Spenser, and Daniel Fuentes, superior for duet;
Tegan Jackson and Margaret Michka, superior for duet;
Sarah Nelson and Brooklynne Seale superior for duet;
Claudia Prioa and Becca Beck superior for duet; and
Claudia Proia superior for solo.

Sequoyah Book Party - The time is nearing for the SMS Pizza Party! Vote for your favorite Oklahoma Sequoyah Book from this year’s list.  The party will be during 5th hour in the library on April 6th…that gives you time to read over spring break…you only need to read and pass the tests for three books on the list…!

Sports

SoftballGirls interested in playing softball should plan to attend a meeting in the commons at 7:20 am on Thursday, March 11th.  The coach will be here with more information.

Cheerleaders – This is a reminder to next year’s Sequoyah cheerleaders:  There will be a uniform fitting tomorrow after school, and then the parent meeting at 4:15.  Please tell your parents to meet us in the gym at 4:15 for a short meeting about the upcoming year.  ALSO,
Congratulations to Courtney Schommer and Makenzie Ford who were selected for the 9th grade cheerleading squad!!

Track - Due to a scheduling conflict junior high track will not be going to Bixby on March 29th, so please take that off your schedule.  Coach Allison will also be sending out the list of those going to the Skiatook meet tomorrow.  If you’re in track, please check in the office later today for that list.  Track team will be meeting at South today regardless of weather.  They need to pass out uniforms and give you information about tomorrow.

Clubs

DFY - Drug Free Youth is collecting new stuffed animals to deliver to children at St. Francis hospital.  If you want to participate, please bring a new stuffed animal to the office or to Ms. Lievsay in room 129.

Spanish Clubwill meet today after school in room 201 until 4:15.  You must be a member of Spanish club to attend, and you may bring snacks.  We will watch a movie in Spanish.

Math Counts – Math Counts will meet tomorrow from 2:45-3:30, in room 110.  Mr. Cox says this is your “Homework” deadline – all papers need to be turned in.
